Skills Testing
Skills testing is part of our course and each pupil will have the chance to take part in our world famous skills testing just like David Beckham did and qualify for the national skills final held at Sydney Olympic Park in March.
The winner of the national final will travel to the UK to compete in the world skills final and the flight paid for by BCSS plus a trial at a English premiership club.

SHOOTING
This test is designed to develop accuracy in shooting. Depending on the age of the participant he is asked to take four shots at a divided goal from a set distance away. Each shot must be realistic in terms of shooting for goal and a side footed attempt would not be acceptable. Each participant has 15 seconds in order to carry out this test.

PASSING
A test to encourage the use of both feet by passing over a short distance. This test is handicapped by the amount of time a player has to complete the course U8's - 14secs, 9-11 - 12 secs, 12/13 - 10secs, 14 & over - 8secs. This test is designed so that each pass should be done with alternative feet, left right, left right or visa versa. For each successful gate a player scores 50 points. If a player scores all four gates and finishes the course under the designated time he will score a bonus. If a player misses a gate the time does not matter. A participant must sore maximum accuracy points before time is considered.

DRIBBLING
This test is designed to improve close control whilst at pace with the ball. Eight cones are set out in a slalom effect and a single cone is placed a set distance away dependant on the age of the competitor. The idea is for the competitor to run the slalom course up and down, and then run with the ball at his feet to the other designated cone before returning and stopping the ball dead on the starting line, thus ensuring that the ball is fully under control. Each competitor starts with 200 points, depending on whether the competitor scores below 30 seconds or above 30 seconds depends on whether the 200 points is increased or decreased.

LOFTED PASS
This test is handicapped on distance dependant on the age of the participant. The idea is to pass the ball through the air so that on its first bounce it lands within the designated area. Each competitor has four attempts. He is allowed to attempt one pass with his weaker foot for which he would score double point value.
JUGGLING/CONTROL TEST
The aim of this test is to keep the ball of the floor for as long as possible and so improving the use of body parts to control the ball. Each participant is looking to keep the ball in the air for 1 minute (60 seconds). If he manages this he will qualify for bonus points, which he receives for using different parts of the body. However if he only manages part of a minute he will receive the following points.
| 0-5 seconds | 50 points |
| 6-10 seconds | 100 points |
| 11-20 seconds | 120 points |
| 21-30 seconds | 140 points |
| 31-40 seconds | 160 points |
| 41-50 seconds | 180 points |
| 51-60 seconds | 200 points |
